Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow , the year ESC become big and Alexander set the Eurovision record with 387 points. Six years have gone and Alexander is still one of the most popular artist in the Eurovision community.

Once upon a time, 5 years ago when we were younger, the Fairytale started. Alexander won the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow with a record high number of points and he won our hearts. Today, 5 years later, his record is still standing and our Fairytale Fiddler is still capturing our hearts. We celebrate by looking back on some golden moments from 2009, which were never published here before 🙂

Whatever happens, Alexander has already won.
Whether Alexander Rybak wins Eurovision or not, he has already won the hearts of all on behalf of himself, Norway and all those who stand out in the crowd.
He had already jumped through the screen in Kjempesjansen with his own song “Foolin'”. And made viewers gasp for breath, thinking: Wow, what is this?It is incredibly rare to experience a top-trained classical musician with such a natural and heartfelt ability to communicate. He was not an old fellow when he closed his ears to the skeptics’ attempts to get him to limit himself to a career as a classical violinist. He wanted to perform the music as he felt it, both his own and others. Because when Alexander Rybak plays Rolf Løvland’s “Secret Garden”, It’s hard to remember to breathe.

Tonight it’s 5 years since Alexander Rybak won the Norwegian ESC selection, MGP with his Fairytale.To celebrate we asked for a little interview. So here it is, fresh from New York, where Alexander has a concert to conclude the seminar he has held for young talented children there this week.

Looking back at the last 5 years, have they turned out the way you hoped for, and what would you do differently if you won ESC today, based on the experience you have had?
AR: I may have trusted my instincts more, instead of doing everything as I was told to, by the book. But fortunately I understood this pretty fast, and now I am the master of my own life.

Today it’s been exactly 5 years since our favourite fiddler won Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian selection for ESC.
We celebrate the day with a look back on the night it happened.
Tonight our favourite Fiddler celebrates with a spectacular concert that is concluding a seminar in New York together with the children of the Trinity School.

Alexander Rybak can laugh all the way to the bank after his record breaking victory in Melodi Grand Prix yesterday.
– It feels great, and overwhelming. It`s so wonderful that I get the chance to be the fiddler I`ve always dreamt of becoming.- Rybak says to VG. Last night the heartthrob celebrated his crushing Grand Prix victory at Hard Rock Cafe, after having received the amazing amount of 747 888 audience votes (the highest amount in the history of MGP), and beating the seven other finalists with the song “Fairytale”.

Rybak and his Frikar dancers got 600,000 more votes than their arch rival, Tone Damli Aaberge, who became second.

Dear friends! Exactly 3 years ago Alexander won Norwegian MGP final with “Fairytale” and everything turned upside down in his and ours lives!:)) The majority of his fans all over the world got to know him a bit later, when he won International Eurovision Contest in Moscow, but many Norwegians should remember that day, 21st February 2009;)) Happy anniversary, Alexander!:)))
