The album “Visa vid vindens ängar” by Alexander Rybak and Mats Paulson was released in 2011. The collaboration began when Mats contacted Alexander after having seen a video of him on YouTube where he performed his song “Visa vid vindens ängar”. And so he wanted to thank him for performing his songs and sent Alexander an email. Alexander was grateful for the praise, and later he contacted Mats and the collaboration was a fact.
The album is about enjoying the small things in life and it’s a perfect summer album. Alexander states in the sleeve that he needed a project that brought out the human in him. Below you can hear a taste of the songs.

Genom ljumma gator far
man i öppna bilar.
Genom sommarnatten blå
kor och hästar vilar.
På en höjd blir luften sval,
värmen kommer i en dal
och i stugan väntar frugan
med en brasa varm och skön.
Ungarna kan inte sova,
fast de läst sin aftonbön.

Hörde du sommarens vind dra förbi?
Kände du solen mot kinden?
Fjärilens vingar i ditt drömmeri.
Somnade du under linden?

“A Eurovision winner gets plenty of exciting suggestions for cooperation. The biggest of all for me was undoubtedly the day I received a letter by Mats Paulson. He had seen me perform “Visa vid vi…ndens änger” and wanted to thank me for singing his songs. It was difficult to comprehend that such a great composer had taken the trouble to write a long and heartfelt letter to me.
Time passed and life after Eurovision became more and more unreal. I felt that now I needed a project where I found the man in me. But I needed someone to work with. Someone who understood life, someone who understood us and not least:
Someone who understood the music.
Someone like Mats Paulson.
Fortunately, he was happy to help me. I even got to do a few songs myself and I hope you enjoy them. Mats texts is about to enjoy the big and little things in life, and I hope that you will do to after hearing the album.
I sing in Swedish by the way.
– Yours Alexander”
