MH: First question: Sasha hi. Tell me please how is it to sing and play the violin at the same time?
AR: I haven’t done this before, it’s tricky. I always finish singing and then start with the violin; I finish playing and then start singing again It’s kind of like traveling between Norway and Russia
In June, Alexander visited the studio of a very popular Russian musical TV-channel during his promotional tour in support of his soundtrack “Into a Fantasy” to the movie “How to Train Your Dragon 2”, where he answered fans’ questions in live video chat. Very interesting and funny interview 🙂

The project “Star Hour” at the 21st International Art Festival “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” has changed greatly. First of all journalists didn’t see a constant host Victor Tatarsky. This year Sergei Shustitsky and Alexei Ostudin will represent the stars by chain. By the way, as the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, a famous composer and TV host Sergei Shustitsky stated at the opening of the first meeting of the International Press-center, he is going to lead the program “Star Hour” being in the shadows, allowing the stars to communicate with journalists. Sergei does not like scandals, he is for a good will, moreover, the format of “Star Hour” will be strictly regulated because of TV recordings.
Meeting at the International Press-center with Alexander Rybak wasn’t planned, but it was a baptism of fire for the co-host Alexei Ostudin and a Norwegian with Belarusian soul Alexander Rybak has demonstrated a sincere desire to communicate with the press without fear of any questions. And they were tricky. For example:

Last week in the concert hall “Dzintari” one of the most popular winners of the Eurovision Song Contest – Alexander Rybak (26) came to the stage together with his father Igor Rybak.
When you won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, how did your life change?
Radically. The only thing that has not changed are my ambitions. I’ve always been quite self-confident. I was aware of my talent and ability, just it was not easy to convince very important people about that. Three years ago, to be able to perform, I wrote about twenty emails a day. Do you think that these important people responded to me? They were not interested in my music. I recorded my Eurovision song, and brought it to the radio by myself. Nobody accepted it. Radio stations said this is not a music at all, the violin sounds strange, and I scream something on the top. When I won the Eurovision song contest, for some reason everything started to sound good. Winning this competition has changed the limits of my abilities. It is important that it’s not some wise uncles and aunts who judge on your talent and work but an audience. Now I don’t need to tell anybody who I am. No need to beg and to prove, because offers are pouring like from a cornucopia. If I speak to someone by myself, everything happens very quickly! – What is your best summer memory?
– My best summer memory is when I went to Tusenfryd (amusment park) with the first girl I was in love with. We went to Tusenfryd, because I knew she was going to sit close to me when we would take the Timber chute.
– What kind of relationship do you have to the summer?
– I like summer when it rains. I am a Belarus, you know, so I’m a sucker for melancholy and nostalgia. Also, I like to see the sunset in the summer.
The interview was made 6th September 2010, when Alexander visited Poland
