Among the nearly three thousand spectators, one could also find some previous Eurovision winners. Didrik Solli-Tangen and Alexander Rybak had made the trip to be a part of the cheering audience. A position they were really satisfied with. “Right now, I could not imagine standing on stage. There is tremendous pressure and a lot of nerves. I’m just fine here as a clapping audience,” Rybak smiles, and get support from Solli-Tangen: “Tonight I’m enjoying the other’s achievements. And by saying that, I have to say that the representatives from Larvik has done an incredibly good job tonight”.

The friends about Alexander:
“Completely surreal!”

Last weekend, Alexander Rybak fiddled himself into the hearts of all Europe. We have talked to three people who are close to the super-talent.

Alexander Rybak has been a steady summer guest in Spind together with the Stanghelle family. Here he wrote songs, here he fell in love, and here he gave some of his first concerts. We have looked through our archives and present you now some glimpses from our local memories of the Grand Prix winner, all the way back from the first concert in Espeland Schoolhouse July 1996. Alexander Rybak, is the man on everyone’s lips right now. The (betting) odds have pointed to his advantage ever since it became clear that he would be Norway’s representative in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. “Gylleneskors” (Golden shoes) Bjorn Nordlund, Alexander Borodin and Irina Karelina met up with him when he was on a short promotional stop in Stockholm before leaving for Moscow. It became a different kind of interview where Rybak told with his own words about what has happened so far, what goes on, and what he thinks about Eurovision. – “Alexander is very smart. At many of the concerts he starts by playing a Norwegian folk-tune, before he sets in with the monster-hit “Fairytale”. He is very cunning in that way. He challenges people with new stuff, instead of making them feel, he forces stuff upon them”,-  NRK programme leader Per Sundnes, explains. He has made the portrait of the MGP-winner.

Per Sundnes about Alexander and his victory in ESC 2009

Per Sundnes, the one who was in charge of MGP/ESC Norway the year Alexander Rybak won Eurovision, talks about Alexander and his victory in Moscow on NRK “Førkveld” 7.1.2011.
Interesting to hear Per telling about how all the coincidences which happened that year led to the big victory.
