Interview with Alexander for Turkish magazine “Go Girl”

English version of the interview provided by Alexander Rybak, with previously unpublished questions, omitted due to lack of space.

The Turkish version of the interview was published in the April issue of the Turkish magazine “Go Girl”.

-How did life change for you after your Eurovision victory in 2009?

AR: It was the biggest privilege for an artist: To be heard. Now, if I want to cooperate with another artist or producer, I just call them. And then they do everything they can to arrange something nice. But I never take anything for granted, so when I don´t write music I sit down with my computer and send mails to people around the world. Non-stop. I´m hungry as a wolf.

A firework display

It was a concert the many in attendance will remember for a long, a very long time. A concert with many highlights, that was rewarded with a deserved standing ovation when the concert came to its end.

You must just take your hat off to the Kragerø choir with its 16 young girls. The conductor Robert Carding does a great job with the choir, which Rybak emphasized at the end of the concert.

‎(Dagbladet): Alexander Rybak provided a great break performance before tonight’s Grand Prix show winner was declared.

After the Plumbo, Nora Foss Al-Jabri, Tooji and Petter Øien and Bobby Bare had passed thorugh to the golden final, the stage was set for the Eurovision Medley in Oslo Spektrum.

Rybak sang songs by both the artists, Johnny Logan and Olsen Brothers, before he made the entire audience to stand up.

– This one’s for you, Stella! Rybak said, before he started last year’s winning song “Haba Haba”.

Stella Mwangi was suppose to be on stage tonight, but withdrew after his father, Jeff Mwangi Kwirikia was killed in a car accident on Tuesday last week. He was hit by a motorist who ran away from the place, but a person turned himself in later and are now charged in the case.

Yesterday he was buried in Ullensaker church, and he will later be buried in his native country of Kenya.

– Now I’ve really hit the ground, and I do not know if I manage to get up again. But I hear dad’s voice say “stand up”, “stand up,” Stella said in the church.

Winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, Norwegian singer of the Belarusian origin Alexander Rybak told the finalists of the TV music project Eurofest (national selection of the Eurovision) to take the contest as a holiday. The artist gave a press conference in Minsk on 5 January.

“The most importantthing is to take the contest as a holiday and forget about the victory, you should enjoy the process. It rarely happens that all things go as planned. Therefore, you should thoroughly prepare for both Eurofest and Eurovision and when you come to the big stage you should never forget why you are there. Some people forget,” the artist said. Besides, it is very important that the team of a participant thinks about the country it represents first, not about personal interests as it often happens at Eurovision. The team should work for the common purpose.

Alexander Rybak praised the high level of the Eurofest music show. He regretted that the group Thriller who did a great show did not make it to the final. He gave tips to each finalist of the show. Alexander Rybak noted the catchy melody of the song We are the Heroes of the group Litesound and said that he even sang it in the shower a day before. “A trendy song, good English,” he said. Gunesh has a charming smile and a strong voice, Alexander Rybak said. Alena Lanskaya is definitely vocally gifted. Alexander Rybak recommended her to make the music more quiet to emphasize her voice. Viktoria Aleshko, according to Alexander Rybak, has the strongest voice among all the finalists.
