I went to visit the grandmother of Sasha Rybak, a charming Norwegian guy with Belarusian roots, who wasn’t famous when waking up that day, but he was when falling asleep on the night of his triumphant victory with the piercing song Fairytale at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 in Moscow. Maya Borisovna watched her grandson’s performance on television exactly in this apartment on Chernyakhovsky Avenue in Vitebsk, along with her sister Natasha, and … she is thinking back now:

The girls were first one on stage, but after the first song Alexander appeared. The applause had hardly died down before Rybak began to play on the violin a melody familiar to his fans. The audience was especially pleased how the sound of the violin was mixed with the elements of rock and roll. The whole performance was accompanied by a dance group and the pianist Mikhail Orgesh.

After an unsuccessful attempt to send the Belarusian girls from the group “Milki” to “Eurovision-2015” the Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak did not appear in Belarus for a while. The artist emotionally reacted to the “loss”, expressing resentment in a video on his Facebook page. However, a year later Rybak has cooled down and decided to return – this time with a tour. One of the first concerts will be held in the concert hall of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on November 12. Alexander performed at the Grand Opening of the 24th Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus, on the 9th of July, where he sang the song “Made in Belarus” together with other Belorussian artists – Alyona Lanskaya, Teo and Ruslan Alekhno.
The Eurovision winner shared with “Komsomolka” who has upset him, what he doesn’t regret, and if he will continue working with Milki.
After the Belarusian national selection to Eurovision, most of the discussion was not about the winning duet of the singer Uzari and violinist Maimuna, but about Sasha Rybak, the triumphant Eurovision winner, a Norwegian with Belarusian roots- having been offended. In the past year, Alexander has not just been a passing visitor in our country, but one of our own, as the producer of the group Milki, and despite opposing predictions, he plans to continue his collaboration with the group.
Tomorrow, Friday 26th, is the final in Eurofest 2015, the national selection of Belarus’ song for Eurovision 2015. MILKI and “Accent” has got a lot of attention and seems to have good chances to win and get the ticket to Vienna.

Alexander Rybak is in an active searching process. No, the winner of “Eurovision-2009” has no plans to look for his ladylove. This time, all thoughts of the 28-year-old musician are dedicated entirely to his new projects: the other day, he announced the all-Belarusian casting for a new girl band. Newfound Norwegian Meladze (a famous Ukrainian composer and producer) and his team will personally tour around cities and villages to find the most beautiful and strong-voiced Belarusian girls. In addition to Rybak’s patronage, these girls are promised one more substantial stake: this spring, the new girl band will go to Vienna to conquer the sixtieth anniversary of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2015”.

The famous singer admitted that he hopes to conquer the Belarusian show business.
The name Alexander Rybak has been quite familiar for Belarusians for a long time – first, the winner of “Eurovision-2009” has Belarusian roots. Secondly, the guy appears in our country in almost every season, willingly participates in projects (he judged the last season of the “Singing city” on STB), and now he acquired a Belarusian manager. Besides Rybak, Andrey Guzel has the singers Larisa Gribaleva and Sasha Nemo, and the shocking project “Ms. Bride” on his team.

Alexander Rybak helps Belarus warm up for Eurovision
Former Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak usually has rather busy time of it in the run up to Eurovision each year, and this year is no exception. Not only has young Mr Rybak been busy featuring in a popular TV series in Norway, he’s apparently heading East for Easter.
Having wowed audiences at home in Norway with a number of superb renditions of other people’s hits in the smash series Hver Gang Vi Møtes, Alexander Rybak is spending his Easter where it all started. Following his landslide victory at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with Fairytale, Eastern Europe welcomed Rybak with open arms, with his place of birth Belarus in particular becoming one of his major markets.
Alexander participated in the Belarusian talent show “Singing cities”, where he was working as a mentor of the Minsk team. His team made it to the final and performed his song “Nebesa Evropy” (Russian version of Europe skies). The program was recorded on November 19, 2013 and broadcasted on December 1st, 2013.
