“Stjernen vår” (Our star) was performed by Alexander Rybak and Ingeborg Walther for the first time in the Norwegian TV-show “Allsang på grensen” 4.7.2019
“Stjernen vår” is a song from Alexander Rybak’s children’s book “Trolle og den magiske fela” and is written by Alexander and his father Igor.
The night Trolle and Alva became friends there was a star shining brighter than the others. Alva pointed at the star and said: “Let this be our star from now on, and it will always shine for us, no matter how far we are apart”.
The Norwegian lyrics are translated to English by Jorunn Ekre and Anastasia Silakova.
Alva: When everything feels dark and hopeless and the heart cries silently look up, our star is shining and healing all the wounds
Look, it shines just for us every flower awakens and soon the darkness will fade away I’m with you, my friend
Trolle: There once was a time when hope was gone they pushed me away over and over again I fled from myself I had no choice
Too late for me to turn back but then one day you came and woke all hope again you called me your friend
Trolle and Alva: Whatever happens to me I’ll never forget you and no mountain can keep us apart our star shows us the way
And soon the darkness will fade away I’m with you, my friend

Alexander Rybak learned to joik in the Norwegian TV-show “Muitte Mu”.
In September 2017 Alexander spent 3 days in Kirkenes in Northern Norway together with his mentor Frode Fjellheim to learn the Sami joik. After that he went home to compose his first joik “Let The Music Guide You”. The joik was performed for the first time in front of an invited audience in Karasjok in Northern Norway in February this year.
The 3 days in Kirkenes and the performance in Karasjok were broadcast on NRK 10th of November 2018. “Let The Music Guide You” is a mix of English lyrics and joik, and less than a week after the release it was a hit on YouTube. Alexander Rybak featuring Arad Aria in the song “Bade To” (After You).
Alexander Rybak and Arad Aria(Iranian singer, composer and producer) have collaborated and released the new beautiful song in Farsi called “Bade To”, which translates to “After You”.
Although this music video was actually ready 16 months ago, Arad had to wait for the release licence in Iran, hence the delay. The wait was well worth it, however, as the two artists have provided us with a beautiful piece of art in which Arad sings and illustrates the heartbreak one feels after being abandoned by their love, and Alexander plays the elegant melody on the violin. “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” is a traditional gospel song. The song is perhaps the most frequently played number in the hymn and dirge section of traditional New Orleans jazz funerals. The title and lyrics of the song allude to the Biblical passage from 2 Corinthians 5:7 which states, “We walk by faith, not by sight” and James 4:8, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” Continue reading Just a Closer Walk with Thee — video and lyrics→

Lyrics: Alexander Rybak & Yaroslav Rakitin
I decided a long time ago that I’ll never fall in love again
But then you appeared, my kitten-kitten-kitten-kitten
I was independent, but now it’s so boring without you
You break my heart, you play with my soul
And I don’t mind, let people laugh at me
But as soon as I fall asleep, my bunny-bunny-bunny
You’re right here, and I grow wings on my back
And flying above the ground, I’m dreaming only about one thing
The performance of the song on the opening show can now be watched here
