Per Elias Drabløs is originally from Orkdal, Sør-Trøndelag and started his music studies in Kristiansand in 1987, his studies have taken him to Denmark and the USA returning to Norway to the Norwegian Academy of Music where he gained a Ph.D. in Popular Musicology. Per Elias works at the University of Agder (UiA) in Kristiansand as an associate professor .

Per Elias has recorded and toured with many different Scandinavian artists covering a vast number of genres as a freelance musician , and has participated on more than 80 released albums.
He is a regular member of the music group Secret Garden and has toured internationally with them since 1996.

“His genuine musicality and friendly personality instantly appealed to us. He wasn’t only a bass player – he was a real musician. He even looked like a real musician with his waist-long hair. He’s an exuberant musician: an arranger and bandleader in his own right, and often musical director in musical theatre and plays in Kristiansand. All these qualities combined with his long-term relationship with Secret Garden makes him the perfect assistant musical director of the band.
Our bass player is a very versatile musician. When we need him to, he can play the accordion or the odd keyboard in concerts as well as the bass. Socially, he’s quiet, soft-spoken and confident. He’s the one in the band everybody confides in. He has this aura of trust and empathy and is everybody’s loyal friend. He’s a typical perfectionist. He actually missed a note once – I think it was during ‘Nocturne’ – and years later, he still can’t get over it. “
