29 sep 2012 Meet&Greet in Kiev, Ukraine
What a day!
Well, I’ve been thinking all the time, how lucky we are! Alex so often comes to Ukraine and we have an opportunity to meet him again!
I knew from FB that Alex came to Kiev on shooting. So when I went to work on saturday morning I brought my old camera. Thanks to Yana and Julia, the meeting was held in a small, cozy cafe near the hotel “Riviera” where Alex usually stays.
It’s tradition to come to meeting with gifts. When we were discussing gifts, I offered to give him a picture from all of us. I worked to 8, and then I decided to take a taxi, pick up the picture from home and then fly to the cafe.

The city-hall in Chisinau is preparing some special events for the city celebration. Besides the big folklore concert on 14th of October in Piata Marii Adunari Nationale (there will be artists like Loredana Groza, Andreea Banica, Catalin Josan), on the day before, 13th of October, there will be an elite event at Palatul National.
Short report from yesterday’s meeting in Kiev:) I was celebrating my Bday with relatives when I got sms from Yana. I think it was something around 16.00, she told she reserved time for M&G at 20.00. I had to gather fans. That was a disaster, because I was far away, and my phone was dying and I knew how many complaints we’ll get from Ukrainians who don’t live in Kiev. That was tough even for Kiev citizens, but fortunately I have a great team of Ukrainian Facebookies who helped me to arrange everything. Also many thanks to Marianne Mata Hari Saietz for fast reacting and making an event post at the main wall immediately after I asked her.
We gathered around 20-25 people there. Girls from Ukrainian Team Facebookies went to that street and found the place, but that was not so easy to make them put tables together, many restaurants refused to do it, so this is why we couldn’t tell people the exact place in advance. I was happy to see many familiar faces and also some very new. All new ones came thanks to the wall posting:)

More than 400 people took the trip to Bærum Culturehouse Thursday evening to see Tooji, Lise Karlsnes and Alexander Rybak play in honor of women with breast-cancer.
The three artists told that it felt special to get to play at the Pink Ribbon concert this evening.
-“This is a very close subject for me, since my aunt died of breast cancer. Events like this shows that things are in progress”, Tooji said before he started his show. The MGP-star played 3 new songs and the youngest girls in the hall screamed with a full heart.

Klezmer is an old musical tradition with roots in the Jewish communities in Russia and Eastern Europe that existed in the old days. Often performed by small orchestras who wandered around from village to village and played at weddings, funerals and other events.

On August 21st 2012, Alexander Rybak came to Serbia to perform for the first time. He was invited to the Cantat Festival in Novi Sad and he brought with him the keyboard-player Hilmar Kristoffersen and the Frikar-dancers Ulf-Arne Johannessen and Sigbjørn Rua. At the concert, he performed the first song together with the local star, singer Bojana Stamenov.
The audience counted around 10.000 and they were so happy to see Alexander, that he had to stay and sign autographs for many hours. As usual, he would not leave until the last person had got what they came for:-)
It is with deep respect and big gratitude we present these videos of the full concert in Novi Sad, recorded by Sonya Luzina.

Thursday 5th July
Mum and dad drove me to Birmingham late at night, I was so excited, I actually exploded (At least, that’s what dad blamed the nosebleed on!) Lillian picked me up from there, and I said goodbye to my parents before we embarked on an all night long trip to John Lennon airport where to my amusement there was actually a yellow Submarine… We had a cup of tea and a doze before meeting Anni and Dave at about 5am. Currently lacking sleep and over excited – funny combination!
I can see Norway!!!
Friday 6th July
We got to Torp at about half Nine, I decided that Norway looks like someone put a country in a blender with all the islands and what not, but so pretty and awesome! After a short train vs. taxi dispute, we chose the latter.

Summer Adventure for girls choir.
If there was one thing we learned when Alexander Rybak gave a concert together with our choir, it was that he liked what we did.
And it did not take long before we again had contact with him. This time it was a reunion.
The idea was summer idyll, barbecue and singing in the archipelago (skjærgården), and that’s nearly how it was.
15 July, a little bit tired Alexander, came to Jomfruland with his violin hanging over his shoulder.
Alexander performed at the big cultural event “Slavic Bazaar” in Vitebsk, Belarus on July 12th 2012 in two performances. The first performance was at the concert “Songs of Summer”, which took place late at night/early in the morning on July 12th.

The festival is symbolic. Symbolically that children’s musical contest winners from different years opened the 1st part of the Festive ceremony: Martin Jordan (Bulgaria), Sasha Nehaj (Belarus), Kasia-Bell (Poland), Maria (Romania) and Arina Doronina (Russia). They are the future of the festival. “We’ll be stars”, – sang Arina, and this is a sincere thank to “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”.

In an interview at Puaro.lv Belarusian born, Norwegian musician Alexander Rybak, who three years ago won the Eurovision song contest with the song “Fairytale”, tells the story of his holiday habits, as well as advices on how to spend the weekends.
Recently the singer visited Latvia to attend the Mihail Kazinik concert “Fathers and sons”. Somebody has been asking – “Didn’t the weather seem too cold for the singer?”, but he just says “Not at all! In Norway it is much worse than here. Two weeks ago it even snowed there!” he reassured. “I feel very welcomed in Latvia. Unlike residents of other countries, you have the habit of showing your grace first, instead of waiting for someone to bless you.”
