The second video is a translated version of the full soundfile with the personal greeting from Alexander, that he made for the broadcast.

Most of us know Alexander Rybak best as the boy, who brought home the gold in the Eurovision Song Contest. Some have also seen him in the talent-competition “Idol” and we have all, in some way or another, heard the song Fairytale. Now, he has put together a Christmas album, which has got the title “Christmas Tales”.
I for my part, got more than enough of this man in the Fairytale-time, but will try the best I can to review the album objective and with an open mind. My first thought about the album is that it is very much in Rybak-style and easy to recognize. It is clear that he has managed, to put his own touch to well-known Christmas songs.

Selina (10) and Anea Bråten (8) did not want to go to the Christmas concert. But that was before they heard that Alexander Rybak was coming.
-It was kind of strange to see him in person, since I have only ever seen him on TV, says Selina, who together with her sister was very pleased when, after the Christmas concert ‘Silent Night Holy Night’ in Tune church, had their picture with Rybak.
-He is very clever, and the concert was good. I have liked him for a long time. I didn’t want to go to the Christmas concert actually, but then Mom told me that Rybak was coming, Selina smiles.
In spite of the happiness she thought it was a little embarrassing to meet the star violinist.
-But it wasn’t scary. He was very kind, the 10 year old says.

Photo: The quintet, that filled Immanuels church yesterday evening: Alexander Rybak, Marian Aas Hansen, Tor Endresen, Elisabeth Andreassen and Rune Larsen. A performance which, also visually, showed the church in a stylish light.
Thursday evening, Halden and Immanuels church was visited by the finest Christmas-concert-veterans in the country. Something, a fully booked church knew how to appreciate.
The influx of people who want musical help, to get in the right Christmas-mood, is apparently significant. It was said, that there were more than 900 on the pews and that people had come all the way from Oslo to fill up the last seats. The Bergen-native Rune Larsen, is among those who have made Christmas-concerts of the most spectacular kind for the longest time and thus, this year’s version of “Stille Natt, Hellige Natt” is actually a 25-year anniversary.

It is not rare, that the sound of Christmas is the sound of cash registers and clinking coins, performed by artists who see their chance to supplement their income by doing some quick Christmas concerts and/or releasing a Christmas album. Christmas albums can be both pleasant, annoying, and cozy, but rarely particularly important.
Alexander Rybak is sailing on a wave of success, talent, and a youthful belief in his own excellence, so it is not strange that he should also record a Christmas album! On “Christmas Tales” Rybak resorted to the oldest trick in the book for a Christmas album, which is to surf on the crooner-wave.

The quintet consisting of Alexander Rybak (from left), Marian Aas Hansen, Tor Endresen, Elisabeth Andreassen and Rune Larsen performed Christmas songs in front of an almost packed Sandefjord Church.
There were few empty seats in Sandefjord Church when “Stille Natt Hellige Natt” was visiting Friday.
The quintet consisting of Rune Larsen, Marian Aas Hansen, Tor Endresen, Elisabeth Andreassen and Alexander Rybak attracted hundreds of people of all ages in Christmas mood to the Christmas concert.
It was Alexander Rybak who had the honour of opening a program, fully packed of traditional Christmas songs, as he started with the classic “Glade Jul” on the violin, before the quintet’s four remaining members joined with vocals.
I love the moments on stage when we feel magic connection.-Bettan

Alexander Rybak – Christmas tales
In a way it is not surprising, Alexander Rybak takes on a bunch of the American ”pop”- Christmas songs. He has told us, both verbally and musically, that part of his heritage is from a tradition, which the gentlemen Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra helped to establish. This means we are served quite american versions of, among others, “The Christmas Song”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Let it Snow”, “I’ll be home for Christmas” and “Silent Night” with Rybak on both violin and vocals. The wrapping includes everything from big band to a lot of strings and good vocal help from the group Pust and I don’t doubt for one second, that Rybak is sincere about this.

Alexander Rybak, Christmas tales
Norwegian Grand Prix winners have done well in the Christmas- album business before, so it is probably only fair that a Rybak variant came along too. It is, not unexpectedly, the fiddle-playing that makes this album stand out a little, from the now-overflowing basket of mediocre popversions of “played- to- death”- songs.
Rybak has a warm and charming style, and he never tries to “invent the traditions” of Christmas again.
Best track: “Let it snow”.

It’s the experience that the online community learned, after watching a music video named “Oah” by the multi-talented Norwegian guy – Alexander Rybak.
In the music video, Rybak appears as a cute and joyful guy baring his heart to Moa, though she does not even care and flatly turns him down: “Alexander, I’m not interested in you!”, “Listen, I don’t want to go out with you!”, “Stop following me!”
Alexander was guest in “Ettermiddagen” on Norwegian TV2, 22.11.2012, to promote his new Christmas-album “Christmas Tales”. He was invited together with another famous Norwegian singer, Rein Alexander.

A Fairytale: “Slattum Bulls” were so pleased with the fact, that Alexander Rybak came to their elementary school Thursday night, that they made him an honorary member of “Slattum Bulls” after the concert.
It’s probably few other 6th graders who have had the pleasure of performing with Alexander Rybak at their own end of course Christmas party!
Outside the gymnasium at Slattum school the torches are lit. The hallway inside is packed – of pupils, teachers, parents, siblings and grandparents, who are eagerly waiting for the doors to the auditorium to open.
Behind the doors Alexander Rybak is sitting, eating gingerbread in the middle of a group of autograph- hungry sixth graders. Some will have a signature on their violin, others will have an autograph on their t-shirt.
It’s only minutes left until six o’clock and Slattum Bulls with Berit Cardas in the lead, let the parents in.

The whole world learnt about Alexander Rybak after his victory on ESC. The smiling Norwegian conquered the audience not only with his charisma but also with his talent as a composer. The song which was acknowledged as the best one almost unanimously by European countries in the international contest, was personally written by the performer.
