Alexander Rybak is a guest artist at the Vestlandsfestivalen. This weekend he will meet Nesttun Young Strings again who he performed with in October 2012.
This weekend De Unges Orkesterforbund (UNOF) in Hordaland holds the Vestlandsfestivalen for the 8th time.
UNOF is a sister organization for all the orchestras for kids and young people in Hordaland.
There are 140 orchestras with altogether 4000 members nationwide.
Performs with Nesttun Young Strings
Many of these people will get to perform this weekend including Nesttun Young Strings. Nesttun participates with all three of their orchestras.
This year`s guest artist is Alexander Rybak who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and also scored the points record.
The 27 year old will perform, together with the orchestras, several of his own songs at the concert in Grieghallen on Sunday.
Capable teacher and outstanding violinist
It’s important to everyone not just to have individual lessons on their instruments, but also get together and play in an orchestra. This gathering will of course improve the playing, but the social aspect is just as important. The young musicians will meet new friends and have a good time. The joy of performing is central and Alexander has a special understanding with the young people. He is a popular, capable teacher and an outstanding violinist, says Øyvind Andersen.
He is a member of the board of directors in Nesttun Young Strings and deputy chairman in UNOF in Hordaland.
Some of the kids in Nesttun Young Strings met Rybak at Fana culture house on Friday afternoon. Rybak also gave a video message to the readers of Fanaposten.
