Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd of January Alexander took part as a soloist in the Norwegian National Youth Orchestra’s New Year concert in Elverum and Oslo. In addition to Alexander, Arve Tellefsen, Eivind Ringstad and the boys choir “Sølvguttene” took part. Bjarte Engeset was the conductor. Luckily for those who couldn’t be present, some of Alexander’s performances were recorded and you find them below. Enjoy!

Some reviews from people who were present:
Brilliant New Year concert by the Youth Symphony Orchestra. The final numbers with Alexander Rybak showed that they master more genres than the classic. J.Ø.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra is really great, really impressive. Alex was wonderful as usual and the concert was amazing. Jorunn Ekre
The New years concert was really great. I was impressed by all the musicians in the Youth orchestra, who came from all over the country, some of them even from other countries. They were SO good.
All of the solo performances were great, young Eivind Ringstad playing viola was really amazing, I have never heard anyone playing solo on that instrument. No wonder he won a European music competition.
But for me of course the highlight was the end of the concert when Alex was performing. My favourite was Liebesleid, but it’s always nice to hear the audiences response to familiar songs like Roll with the wind and Fairytale, they are without doubt still popular. Venche
