Alexander Rybak invited his fans to a Meet & Greet in Warsaw, Poland.
Some happy fans who got the chance to meet him want to share with us their great moments from this meeting with Alexander. Enjoy reading these nice reports 🙂
“I’m ready for hugs. Wednesday, after a hard days studio work, I’ll be hanging around hotel Indigo, Warsaw (Smolna 40) ca.19.00 NO MORE MORE PRESENTS PLEASE, I just want to see some new and old Polish mafia members.”-Alexander Rybak
After a busy day of working with music producers SOF productions, Alexander had some free time to meet his Polish fans. Despite feeling a little sick he was determined not to let his fans down and took along lots of vitamins and medicines to boost his fans immunity after meeting him. However I don’t think we can ever be immune to his charm. As you can read below for yourselves in this collection of warm reports from fans who were present… (and an extra report from one who was not).
Dorota – Believe in miracles
“At the beginning of August I was in Norway was with my friends. Unfortunately we didn’t meet Alexander during that time. I was very surprised and happy when it turned out that Alex would be in Poland. At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to go to Warsaw. But then a miracle happened.” …
Anna – Lost for words
The information about a meeting with Alexander was such a nice surprise. His post about it was so sweet. Me and my friends immediately started to plan our trip to Warsaw. We live and work in different cities of Poland so we were happy to meet him and to meet each other.
We were waiting in the hotel when Alexander came with his violin case. Yaaay, it meant he would play something for us. And he did! After a short speech he played “Seterjentens søndag” and “Bergrosa”. The acoustics in the room were great and this little concert was fantastic.
Then everybody had time for a little talk with Alex. There were people of different sex and ages, who were all really touched and extremely happy because of the meeting. He hugged everyone as he had promised. We also had our photo. Then I told him that his music was very important to me. I wish I could have said more but my brain didn’t want to help me 😉 The meeting lasted over two hours but I would say it was like a blink of an eye. It’s always too short for us, I think 😉 What I remember the most is my heartbeat while he was playing the violin, his hug and all the beautiful emotions I saw on other fan’s faces.
Ella -We are Family
In 2009 after one and only Alex’s concert this year in Poland I decided to let him know that me and my daughters love his music. So I wrote a letter where I thanked him for the concert. I also add two drawings made by my 8 and 2 year old daughters. Kama who was the older one drew a dolphin for him from her favourite song “Dolphin” and my other girl Zuza made a few colourful lines for him on the paper. We did that because they were always dancing and enjoying every single song with the same childish happiness.
I sent the letter and felt happy just because I did that, let alone thinking what could happen next. You can’t even imagine how happy I was when month later I received a response from him! At first, I was completely clueless about who or why somebody would have written to me from Norway but when I opened the envelope and saw hand-written response from him I couldn’t be more happier. He greeted each one of us and thanked for the drawings. All this had been written on a postcard with his picture.
What I felt in that moment was very unique and this made me even more into his music and his persona. The letter was our biggest treasure. We were looking at it many, many times remembering the moment when it arrived. Girls grew up on his music, listening to it at home or while travelling, just for cheering up or singing together.
Then, 8 years later I saw the information saying that Alex is organising meet & greet for his fans in Warsaw. I took the letter and all three of us drove for the meeting. We were 2 hours early. My younger daughter, 10 years old now, was most excited of all of us. Then something funny happened. At 7 pm when the whole crowd were waiting for Alexander in the prepared room, she told us she had to go to the restroom. It was already the time so we didn’t want to leave and miss Alex’s entrance. I explained her the way from the Indigo hotel to the restaurant nearby where the restroom was and she went there quickly by herself. Of course she met Alex in the hallway leading to meeting room. She only said simply “Oh my God” and then he smiled to her and said “We’ll meet inside later”. She was so happy that she was the first fan to have a small talk with him.
Alexander Rybak is an incredible person. The man you feel respect while he’s playing violin. Big warm smile on his face and the attention he pays you when you’re talking is a very rare trait. Finally after waiting a while we had our moment to talk with him and told him about the letter. It was a moment we’ve waited for 8 years. We told him about our story. However we couldn’t stop the tears of joy. Zuza was crying because of her emotions and he hugged her all the time just to give her courage. He also approved of her English, making her really proud of herself. That kind of meeting is even more special for a 10 year old than for us. I’m very happy as a mother for getting a chance for my girls Zuza (10 y/o) and Kama (16 y/o) to meet Alex who is a great influence to take. This 5 minutes he dedicated to us seemed like eternity, the time stopped for us then. There were a funny moments when Kama said she grew up on his music and he responded “Is that healthy?” or when he asked about our family name while he was signing the picture we had with us, just to write on it “To emotional family Baginski from Alexander Rybak”.
Then even I couldn’t resist the tears. We’re hugging each other many times. After our moment we were still nearby him celebrating every second until the end of the meeting. While we were sitting behind him on the small stairs he turned around, saw us and said “Oh, my family” with smile on his face. We’ll remember these words forever. I wish a moment like we had then for everybody, because these are memories that no one can ever take away from us. My whole family will be always crossing their fingers for a happy life for Alexander Rybak.
Blanka- Fun for new and old!
The information about the meet & greet with Alex fitted perfectly with my plan to visit Warsaw (just to meet my friends who live there). Firstly I met Marijke in the city centre and later I met some of my other friends.
We went to the hotel together and we arrived early, about 50 min before the meeting, so we were the first. We decided to prepare ourselves in the toilets, because that day the weather was very hot and refreshing was necessary! After our preparation a woman- (the manager of the hotel, I guess) showed us the place where the meeting will take place. What was funny, there were a lot of guide-arrows with caption “AleKSander Rybak” 🙂 (oja oja ahaha)
We were alone in a big white conference room with special lamps which changed colours (pretty fancy) and there was air conditioning (thanks God). Over time there were more and more people, around 90% new faces!! We made a big semi-circle and were waiting for Alex. Some people were listening his songs (I warned kindly that they should switch off those songs when he will arrive, because he doesn’t like it). He came, yuhuu… 15minutes late (typical Alexander Rybak). He had glasses which made his eyes look much smaller.
We greeted him warmly, he did the same and told he was sick, and started to show us all the medicines which he’d bought from a nearby pharmacy.
He played the violin two beautiful Norwegian pieces of music- first “Saterjentens Sondag” by Ole Bull and second “Bergrosa” bySven Nyhus. Many girls were looking like they were hypnotized, like they wanted to eat him in a whole piece 😀 The meeting had officially started!
There were so many people, about 50… so me and my friends decided to stay away further, close to his violin (I felt obliged to look after his violin, because he left it unattended) and we waited for the crowd to thin. From time to time we came closer to see what it looked like, still the same or a bit different?! Ok, still the same 😉 we talked with each other etc. we had A LOT OF FUN together!
I hadn’t seen Alex for over 3 years… a pretty long time! And I was sure, that he wouldn’t remember me, because 3 years is a long period. When he came over to his violin, to check if everything was okay, he recognised me and as it turned out later, he remembered too many details (admirable!)
He made some jokes, he was very kind to those people. He asked a lot of questions. People loved him! They hugged a lot, cried and even they forgot their English! That was pretty funny and cute.
When I was standing close enough he paid some attention and when I started to cough strongly he made BIG eyes and said “sorry” and proposed me to get some vitamin C or something (it wasn’t his fault of course).
One of my favourite moments was when one girl said “go back to health!” and he said “whaaat? Go back to hell?!” :O that was amazingly funny, ha-ha.
The atmosphere was amazing, because each and every person could feel privacy because Alex had said “please talk a lot, because I feel like I am in hospital when it is silent” so you couldn’t actually hear exactly what people said to him 😉 that’s good!
The meeting started at 19:15 and ended at 22:00. Long enough for a sick person, SICK MAN. I think that a lot of old fans and new fans will remember this meeting forever, because -first of all, for new ones it was a great opportunity to talk with their idol, second of all, for old ones it was great opportunity to ask more questions and third of all, not many celebrities/ artists etc. organise meet & greets of their own volition. That’s special 🙂
Adrianna -Looking to the future
It was so nice to hear “Bergrosa” and “Sæterjentens søndag” at the beginning of the meeting, as always his music touched our hearts. Even though Alexander didn’t feel well on this day he still found some time for everyone. I was happy to see lots of familiar faces and the new ones. The Polish fan club is getting bigger and bigger.
We were glad to hear that he’s working with Polish producers and in the near future we’ll see the results of their work.
Morpheus Jr. the turtle is somewhat a celebrity himself, he has been pictured with many Polish celebrities, and some international ones too, including Måns Zelmerlöw and LP. At the time of going to press Morpheus Jr was not available to comment and give us his own story for the report as he is a busy little turtle. To be honest, I think he got a little annoyed with Alexander for calling him a frog, and thus his reason for media silence. He did however agree for us to use his photos in our article. and welcomes you to visit his Instagram account here.
Bożena – always present, even in spirit.
My memory of this meeting is special, because I did not meet Alexander in person. This time I could not be there, so I decided to mark my presence and show my gratitude, for what he is doing and what a wonderful man he is, with a small gift. I decided to send a single rose to the hotel and managed to add Alexander’s favourite confectionery “bird milk” to it. I learned from the reports of my colleagues that they were delivered during the meeting. Thanks to them there are also such pictures:
I do not know what Alexander’s reaction was. I hope he was happy and he was glad that I always remember him because he is a special person in my life.
My only regret is that I was not able to talk, hug and listen to his beautiful interpretation of the songs on this occasion.

And now for some fan videos from the evening……..
First, Alexander tells he is sick and offers some medication for those who take a hug with him…… thank you to Anna for capturing his welcome greeting.
Anna’s video of “Seterjentens søndag” demonstrates the great coustics in the Hotel Indigo conference room, and Alexanders outstanding talent for the violin.
And to complete the mini concert Magdalena’s recording of “Bergrosa”.
After reading all these reports it appears the Warsaw meet and greet was a great success. In summary, at first a mini concert, then Alexander dedicated his time and attention to everyone. There was a lot of laughter but also tears, many, many hugs and photos. Everyone left smiling and with memories to treasure .
A big thank you to Dorota, Anna, Ella, Blanka, Adrianna, Magdalena, Agnieszka, Bożena and last but not least Morpheus Jr for sharing their experiences, photos , videos and treasured memories with us.
