Rybak took a break from exams in Baku

BAKU (Aftenposten.no): Alexander Rybak is in the middle of the final heat of exams at Barrat Due, but never the less, he took himself time for a not so little comeback in the Eurovision-circus.

Thursday, Alexander Rybak performs in the interval act at the second semifinal during Eurovision Song Contest, where also Tooji will be in action for Norway. For the Eurovisionwinner from 2009, the trip to Baku is a nice break from the exams-preparations.
– ” It will be like a small vacation to return to this circus, especially now, when I have travelled so much around Europe. At the same time, I have practiced a lot, both on preparations for the summer-show with Bettan and Didrik Solli-Tangen and then I also have this violin-exam. Because of that, I practice several hours every day towards that, so I can finally get a paper, saying I am a violinist,” he says.
Yesterday he took time to meet the local Rybak-fans and judging from the mood of the fans, nothing indicates that the popularity is decreasing. – ” It is lovely to get a break and be reminded that I have this glam-side too”, he says.
16 year old Narmin Mammalova has been a fan of Rybak since he won the final in Moscow.- “Alexander Rybak is a fantastic artist, who mixes traditional music with modern music, and at the same time also has a great voice. He is very popular here in Azerbaijan and it was a great experience, to finally get to meet him”, says the young girl.

Alexander Rybak is larger than Madonna here

Rybak creates euphoria in Azerbaijan.

– “People are completely euphoric here ! He is larger than Madonna and U2” says Per Sundnes. Alexander Rybak is in Baku to perform in the broadcast of tomorrow, but today, he paid a visit to the University to visit Nordic-students.

– ” Everybody loves Rybak overhere. It showed clearly at the University. They see him as a Superstar, – students as well as the principal! They grant him a lot of political power regarding the relation East/ West. That he won made a difference – it is something they had been waiting for, for a long time. It is touching to see”, he says.

Alexander Rybak, who brought home the norwegian victory in 2009 with the song “Fairytale”, was born in Minsk in Belorussian SSR. He grew up at Nesodden outside Oslo and represented, in many ways, both East and West when he won the Eurovision. He set a new record of score with 387 points in the competition and has kept the popularity in many countries after the victory. – ” He is a superstar here”, says an excited Per Sundnes.

Now it remains to see, if Tooji can compare with Rybak!
